Change is nature. It begins as a thought, a wish, a desire, a strong feeling, an intention to attain. Its always curious to look back at the change that we wanted, formulated as a firm resolution - generally new year is a time to make-a-wish-to-follow-the-resolution. But the abysmal rate of failure of such resolutions is there for all of us to see. The intention is right but sustaining is more difficult than we imagine. Many of these resolutions often goes un-achieved and broken within record time. Mine broke before i even started it.
My resolution for this year ( or so i thought) was to pick up my writing, that too on the first day of the new year. It has been lying in neglect for past 8 years..but as you can see its full 26 days late! But as i conveniently tell myself - better late than never!
The general human tendency with regards to resolutions pre se is that it totally runs out of steam within an incredibly short period of time.... woof and it goes flying out the window!
The time taken to lose the battle of resolution vs time is inversely proportional to the the level of complexity of the resolution.
We make a bit of change, breathe a sigh of relief and give ourselves a break. And the resolve evaporates. But then resolutions give a person a reason to strive for something and even if we do fail, it just means make a new wish.
And so starts a vicious circle. But then hey! That's life !
good going gal!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, i cant help the perfectionist in me come to the fore to point out the misconstruction of English in general and the mistake of typing 'per se' as 'pre se' in particular.Anyways, quite good for a first attempt.keep going.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many changes that stay. That becomes a habit that we forgot that it was a change. That change made us a better person. . And we are used to being that better person.. Correct?
