Hence they are sitting neatly packed away in a box waiting to be moved to Delhi.

Was wondering what to do with them as i couldn't possibly carry them with me to Canada when i eventually move there and the prospect of giving them away to someone was quite scary (ask any book lover and you would get the same answer). I was pleasantly surprised when my brother came to my rescue and volunteered to take care of them for me! but then came the googly.. he wants only selected books and wont adopt the rest of them!! Well i guess i should be happy with that at least and look for another alternative..

You should see the amount of junk i have hoarded in the past 11 years! I have cassettes saved away but no tape recorder in this age of CDs and downloads, old birthday cards, loads of junk jewelery, graduation books, PG books !! God alone knows what i was planning when i was tucking them away neatly in the shelves. Discarding them is becoming a humongous task ! Phew and the list goes on and on.

Change is nature. It begins as a thought, a wish, a desire, a strong feeling, an intention to attain. Its always curious to look back at the change that we wanted, formulated as a firm resolution - generally new year is a time to make-a-wish-to-follow-the-resolution. But the abysmal rate of failure of such resolutions is there for all of us to see. The intention is right but sustaining is more difficult than we imagine. Many of these resolutions often goes un-achieved and broken within record time. Mine broke before i even started it.

My resolution for this year ( or so i thought) was to pick up my writing, that too on the first day of the new year. It has been lying in neglect for past 8 years..but as you can see its full 26 days late! But as i conveniently tell myself - better late than never!

The general human tendency with regards to resolutions pre se is that it totally runs out of steam within an incredibly short period of time.... woof and it goes flying out the window!
The time taken to lose the battle of resolution vs time is inversely proportional to the the level of complexity of the resolution.

We make a bit of change, breathe a sigh of relief and give ourselves a break. And the resolve evaporates. But then resolutions give a person a reason to strive for something and even if we do fail, it just means make a new wish.

And so starts a vicious circle. But then hey! That's life !
